On Sunday, the 8th of November 2020, we had the honor of meeting with His Excellency Dr. Khalid Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Media City. His Excellency joined us on our MS-Teams Channel from 5 to 6 PM to talk about The Future of Jobs in the Creative Industries.
"Creativity is Intelligence Having Fun" - Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein, a man famous for his physics breakthroughs and nuclear theories, broke down creativity into this simple saying. We now live in a world where all industries are affected by the digital revolution and the creativity industry, factors that are now shaping the future and how we live and approach our life.
In his talk, H.E. highlighted the impact of technology and the creative industries on different industries, businesses, and our personal way of life. He used examples from businesses we've all heard of, such as Nokia, Uber and Netflix, and and showed us the uses of AI, AR and VR in the different industries. He then introduced us to reports and statistics that shocked us to our cores! He also reflected on the new job opportunities arising due to these advancements in technology. Who would've thought bloggers, gamers and influencers would grow to become real jobs earning a livable income?
His Excellency and Dr. Aref Maksoud also discussed the potential of a collaboration between our department and SHAMS, so we are eagerly waiting for this day to come!
Indeed, Dr. Khalid's talk comes at the most opportune time, for we have all felt the importance of technology during this pandemic, and we've all been heavily affected by it. We are incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity to sit and talk with this one-of-a-kind creative. If you've missed this lecture, find the recording and transcript down below!
