A Recap of Events during the Fall Semester (2022-2023)

It has been a great semester filled with learning, events, and achievements. Now that we've bid goodbye to the Fall semester, let's reminisce some of the memorable events that were organized.

Orientation day

Our freshmen began their journey with an orientation on Thursday, the 15th of September. The chairman of the AE Department, Dr. Emad S. Mushtaha, began the orientation by welcoming the new students to the department and laid the foundation for what is to come throughout this event.

He was then followed by brief introductions by our respected faculty members and their enlightening words and thoughtful guidance. Next, the President of SASA Youssif Al-Qadhi, and Co-Vice President Jamileh Bahbouh, introduced the students to SASA, reassuring and reminding them that SASA is always there for them.

Then, the team leaders introduced themselves and spoke a bit about what their team is responsible for. After the introductions, it was time to give the students a brief overview of the study program and design courses offered by the AE Department; the purpose and objective of each stage in the AE program were explained to the students.

The event concluded with words of encouragement from our valued doctors that urged the students to get involved in extracurricular activities, stay connected with their academic supervisors, and reach out to SASA for help or advice.

Architecture Day

On the 3rd of October, we celebrated being architects. In this special event, a number of our alumni were invited over for a Talk and Discussion followed by a Q&A which was a great opportunity for students to learn about potential career fields of interest and to hear first-hand how our alumni are using their degrees. Later, there was a food buffet, a photo booth and some mini games that took place in the M8 atrium. Lastly, there was an interesting student exhibition in which students from different design stages showcased their work and everyone was impressed with the creativity and hard work of our students!

Breast Cancer Awareness

October was finished off at the AE Department by the Breast Cancer Awareness event. SASA members were proud that such an event was organized because it’s a chance to educate and honor the lives of those affected by breast cancer. To ease up into the topic, the event was started off with a competition to get everyone excited and ready for the main talk which was followed by an introduction by the Chairman of the AE Department, Dr. Emad S. Mushtaha. Afterward, we had the honor of having our guest speaker over, Dr. Huda Mamoun Shoukfeh, to deliver an informative presentation about the types of breast cancer, cancer prevention, detection, and treatment, the health effect of breast cancer, and the impact of genetics on cancer risk and then the presentation was concluded by opening the floor for any questions. Lastly, the event was wrapped up by some games and challenges, a makeup booth, hope corner photobooth and food and drinks in the M8 atrium.

Motiongate Trip - Midterm Recovery

When you’re in the mood to relieve yourself after a stressful midterms week, you’re definitely in the mood for Motiongate! That’s why on the 13th of November, our AED students were rewarded with a trip to the region’s largest Hollywood-inspired theme park. To say the least, it was a day full of action-packed entertainment all in one place: exciting theme park rides, character meet and greets, live shows, retail shops, and restaurants.
